Providence Alaska Medical Center Visitation Guidelines

To protect our patients, staff and community from the spread of COVID-19, we have four visiting levels: green, yellow, orange and red. We choose these levels based on how many people have COVID-19 in Alaska and Anchorage, and busyness of the hospital.

Please note: Visiting guidelines may change as needed for the safety of patients and staff.

We want you and your loved one to stay in touch when you are not here. Options include:  

  • Phone calls
  • Video chat
  • Voice recorder
  • Letters and cards
  • Email  

This guide includes helpful information on how to stay in touch with your loved one while they are in the hospital. Please contact your loved one’s care team for assistance.

COVID-19 visiting guidelines 

Visitors must: 

  • Always wear a mask
  • Wash or sanitize hands often
  • Pass a health screen at the door including a temperature check
  • Complete contact tracing log upon entry
  • Follow all directions from staff

Visiting level: Green

The patient may choose Care Partner(s) who are 18 or older. Care Partners must be the same person(s) for the whole stay and may visit each day during established visiting hours.

Patients at end of life may have one additional visitor at bedside at a time.

Visiting level: Orange

The patient may choose care partner(s) who are 18 or older. Care partners must be the same person(s) for the whole stay and may visit each day during established visiting hours.

1Patients at the end of life may have one additional visitor at bedside at a time (two visitors max).

Visiting level: Red

The patient may choose care partner(s) who are 18 or older. Care partners must be the same person(s) for the whole stay and may visit each day for those patients who are eligible.

*A patient's care team may make exceptions if a visitor is critical to physical or emotional care during an appointment.
