Can you help sew masks? There is a need and we would appreciate your help.

cloth masks

Providence is opening more services in our hospitals and clinics to serve our community while maintaining the governor’s guidelines to ensure we continue to serve COVID-19 patients. With more visitors and patients in our facilities, we’ve adopted new measures and precautions, in accordance with CDC guidelines. One of those measures is that all patients and visitors are required to wear a mask at all times when in our facilities.

Here’s how you can help
If you know how to sew, you can help us provide safe care in our hospitals and clinics by donating cloth face masks. We will collect and sterilize the masks for patients and visitors to use, if they don’t already have one. The mask is then theirs to keep and use.

For community members who sew, here are helpful resources to help you get started (if you have a different pattern, we accept all types and sizes):

If you have questions about making or donating masks, please reach out to Megan Blandy via email at or by phone at 503-216-7175. Please do not call clinics or hospitals.

Completed masks can be dropped off entrance screening desks at the following locations:

Any Providence Medical Group clinic in the Portland metro area.

Any of Providence hospitals in the Portland metro area:

Providence Portland Medical Center

Providence St. Vincent Medical Center

Providence Milwaukie Hospital

Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center

Providence Newberg Medical Center

Our heartfelt gratitude to all who have sewn and donated – and who will sew and donate - cloth masks to support patients and visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
